Patna: Patna Smart City Limited has issued an official clarification refuting ongoing rumours about the allotment of prefabricated shops along JP Ganga Path, stating that no such process has begun. The authority has cautioned citizens against being misled by individuals falsely claiming to represent government bodies and circulating fake receipts or allotment lists.
Managing Director Yashpal Meena urged the public to “avoid paying attention to any unverified information” and to rely only on official announcements. He said, “Currently, only the construction and installation of prefabricated shops are underway. The allotment process has not started yet.”
The statement added that official information regarding the allotment will be publicly announced before any process begins, along with a formal press release. Citizens seeking information can contact the Patna Smart City office at 0612-2219180 or message the Patna Municipal Corporation chatbot at 9264447449.
The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) is monitoring the Ganga Path area through installed surveillance cameras, and public awareness messages are being broadcast through loudspeakers to counter misinformation. Officials have also confirmed that FIRs will be filed against anyone found spreading rumours or engaging in fraudulent activities.
“Any person involved in cheating or spreading false information will face strict legal action,” the press release stated, adding that previous cases of illegal collection and fraud had already resulted in police action.
Project Status and Development Works
The Ganga Path prefabricated vending zone project, executed under the approved Detailed Project Report (DPR), aims to provide organized vending spaces, improve cleanliness, and ensure smoother traffic flow in Patna.
Under the plan, 500 prefabricated shops are being built in phases — around 80 have already been positioned along the Ganga Path, while the remaining units are ready at the storage yard.
As part of the Riverfront Development Project, several enhancement works have also been approved by the board:
- Thematic beautification of the 125-metre stretch from Digha Golambar to Ganga Path.
- Development of areas from LCT Ghat to the western end of the L&T project site.
- Beautification of the area opposite the L&T project site.
- Expansion and development from the eastern edge of the L&T site towards Gandhi Maidan.
