Patna: In a shocking incident in Banauli village, Paliganj, Patna, a 65-year-old woman, Jethali Devi, was allegedly beaten to death by her own son on Sunday. The accused, Satendra Ram, reportedly attacked his mother after she failed to cook food as he had demanded. Police arrested Satendra Ram late Sunday night.
Patna West City SP Bhanu Pratap Singh confirmed the arrest of Satendra Ram, stating that the dispute over cooking food appears to be the primary motive behind the tragic incident.
Further investigation has revealed a disturbing past for the accused. It was discovered that Satendra Ram had previously murdered his wife in 2016 by slitting her throat. He served approximately nine years in jail for that crime and was released just a few months ago.
According to police, Satendra Ram had asked his elderly mother to prepare food, and when she was unable to, he allegedly assaulted her, leading to her death. The accused son also reportedly attempted to destroy evidence at the crime scene.
Police have registered a case and initiated further action. Authorities describe the accused as having a “criminal nature,” given his history of violent offenses. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.
