Patna: A government school teacher was shot and robbed by motorcycle-borne assailants in Patna on Wednesday morning, in an incident that has once again raised concerns over law and order in the Bihar capital.
The attack took place under the jurisdiction of Agam Kuan police station when Shambhu Kumar, a government teacher, was travelling with a female colleague to Nalanda district for work.
According to police, Kumar left his home around 4am with fellow teacher Veena Kumari and was walking along Bhoothnath Road when two men on a motorcycle intercepted them near the NRL petrol pump.
The assailants allegedly attempted to snatch Kumar’s mobile phone. When he resisted, one of the attackers opened fire, striking him in the left shoulder.

Kumar collapsed on the roadside as the attackers fled with his mobile phone and bag. Passersby rushed the injured teacher to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Doctors said his condition is stable.
The incident triggered panic in the area and prompted a swift response from the police. ASP Raj Kishore Singh visited the scene and began an investigation.
Police officials said CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the suspects. Raids are also being conducted to trace and arrest those involved.
Residents of the Bhoothnath Road and Agam Kuan areas alleged that incidents of robbery and violence have become increasingly common during early morning hours. Several locals questioned the effectiveness of police patrolling, citing a recent rise in shooting and snatching cases across parts of the city.
