Patna: A daring burglary in the Chainpur Begampur area under Bypass police station has left a family shaken, with thieves making off with gold, silver, cash, and other valuables worth an estimated 7 to 8 lakh rupees.
According to the homeowner, Ranjan Kumar, who runs a nursery in Patna, he was away in Buxar for family-related work when the incident occurred. His wife, mother, and two minor children were at home at the time. The theft reportedly took place between 2 and 3 a.m. on Thursday.
The gang of thieves allegedly entered the house through the railway line behind the property. They broke into a room and stole a variety of gold and silver jewelry stored in a Godrej cupboard, including nose rings, maang tikkas, earrings, rings, gold lockets, jitiyas, mangalsutras, anklets, sikris, and brass utensils. In addition, approximately ₹48,000 in cash was also taken.
Ranjan Kumar said he discovered the theft upon returning home in the morning, noticing the lock of one of the rooms broken. His wife, Anuj Kumari, added that the family had gone to sleep around 1:30 a.m., confirming the thieves struck in the early hours.
Following a complaint filed at Bypass police station, authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
