Patna: Residents of Patna could soon have three new and upgraded public parks to enjoy, with the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) preparing to begin work on projects worth Rs 4.76 crore across the city.
The proposed parks, planned for Mithapur, Kidwaipuri and Bank of India Colony in Patliputra, are expected to feature modern recreational facilities including selfie points, open-air gyms, yoga spaces, children’s play zones and landscaped green areas.
Officials say the projects are intended to improve urban amenities while addressing the shortage of public parks in several neighbourhoods.
Mithapur To Get Largest Park
The biggest of the three projects will be developed in Mithapur, south of the New Bypass and opposite the old bus stand.
Spread over 138 metres by 27 metres, the park is estimated to cost Rs 1.85 crore.
Planned features include a pond, selfie point, open-air gym, yoga shed, children’s play area, landscaped walkways and public toilets. Decorative lighting, artwork and an internal drainage system are also part of the proposal.
The project is expected to provide South Patna with one of its first large public parks equipped with a full range of modern recreational facilities.
Kidwaipuri Park To Be Revamped
BUIDCO will also renovate the Adarsh Colony Park in Kidwaipuri, adjacent to the Thakur Prasad Community Hall in Ward 25.
The renovation, estimated to cost Rs 1.67 crore, will upgrade the existing 36-metre by 32-metre park with a water fountain, yoga shed, pathways, high-mast lighting and children’s play equipment.
The redesigned park will also incorporate Mithila paintings as part of its landscaping and aesthetic improvements.
New Park Planned In Patliputra
A third park is proposed in Bank of India Colony in Ward 5 under the Patliputra zone.
The 32-metre by 17-metre park will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 1.22 crore and will include facilities similar to those planned for the other two locations.
Officials say all three parks will be equipped with landscaped gardens, seating areas, lighting, decorative artwork and recreational infrastructure designed for visitors of all ages.
Focus On Public Recreation
BUIDCO has reportedly finalised the project plans and construction is expected to begin shortly.
The initiative is aimed at expanding access to public green spaces in neighbourhoods where parks are limited, while creating recreational facilities for children, senior citizens and fitness enthusiasts.
Once completed, the projects are expected to enhance both the liveability and visual appeal of these parts of the city.
