Patna : Traffic movement near the Rajendra Nagar Terminal overbridge in Patna will be changed to facilitate road repairs and Patna Metro construction work. The diversion plan will be implemented in two phases, beginning with a two-day trial on October 10 and 11.
The trial is intended to assess traffic arrangements and facilitate the movement of heavy machinery required for the work. A longer closure of the Rajendra Nagar bridge near Vaishali Golambar is also planned after Durga Puja and before Chhath.
Trial Traffic Diversions On October 10 And 11
Traffic authorities have scheduled a two-day trial to assess the revised arrangements near the overbridge.
- October 10, Saturday: The lane carrying traffic from Bahadurpur towards Patna city, including Kankarbagh and Rajendra Nagar, will remain closed.
- October 11, Sunday: The lane carrying traffic from Patna towards Bahadurpur will be closed.
The restrictions will apply to the respective directions on the specified dates. Commuters travelling through the area should follow traffic police instructions and allow additional time for their journeys.
Rajendra Nagar Bridge To Close At Night For 10–12 Days
The second phase is planned for the period after Durga Puja and before Chhath, when the Rajendra Nagar bridge near Vaishali Golambar is expected to remain closed for 10 to 12 days.
The work will involve road repairs beneath the bridge and arrangements for the safe movement of the Patna Metro tunnel-boring machine (TBM) and associated heavy equipment.
To minimise disruption to daytime traffic, the work is scheduled to take place from 10 pm to 6 am. The planned overnight schedule is intended to keep the route available during the day, subject to the final traffic arrangements announced by the authorities.
Why Is Traffic Being Diverted?
The traffic changes are linked to two major requirements: repairing the road beneath the bridge and ensuring that heavy machinery associated with Metro construction can be moved safely through the area.
The trial diversions will help authorities assess traffic flow before the longer work period begins. The overnight schedule is also intended to reduce the impact on regular commuters.
Advisory For Commuters
The traffic police have appealed to motorists and residents to use alternative routes during the restrictions and follow instructions issued by traffic personnel on duty.
Passengers travelling to or from Rajendra Nagar Terminal railway station should check the latest local traffic advisories before leaving, particularly during the trial diversions and overnight closure period.
The exact alternative routes and final dates for the longer closure should be confirmed through official traffic police announcements before travel.
