Patna: The Department of Geography at Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) hosted a two-day national conference titled “Community Based Approach Towards Sustainable Environment and Society: Viksit Bharat @2047” on March 24–25. Conducted in a blended mode, the event was organised in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry at St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysuru, drawing participation from academics, researchers, and students across India.
The inaugural session featured Chief Guest Dr. Anubha Prasad, General Manager of the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), Patna. Plenary sessions included lectures from leading scholars such as Prof. N.C. Jana, Prof. Mahalaya Chatterjee, Dr. Niladri Sekhar Dhar, Dr. Shweta Rani, and Dr. Rashmi Rani Anand, who addressed topics ranging from disaster risk reduction and sustainable agriculture to green living and global sustainability perspectives.

The event also saw the presence of Dr. Sister Jincy A.C., Superior of Avila Convent, and Dr. Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Head of the Department of History. In the valedictory session, Prof. D.K. Nayak of North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, praised the quality of research presentations and highlighted the role of community participation in advancing sustainable development.

The conference was organised under the guidance of Dr. Amrita Chowdhury, Head of the Department of Geography, with Dr. Awadhesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, serving as co-convenor. Faculty members and student volunteers played a key role in ensuring the smooth execution and overall success of the event.
