Patna, September 24: The Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics and the Department of Home Science at Patna Women’s College jointly organised a food photography competition on Thursday as part of National Nutrition Month celebrations.
Titled “Daastan-e-Tasveer – Foodogenic Photography,” the competition was held at B. J. Sullivan Hall and began at 11 am.
53 Students Participate
The competition provided students with an opportunity to combine food, nutrition and visual storytelling. Participants were encouraged to present food not only as something to be consumed but also as a medium to communicate ideas related to nutrition and healthy living.
A total of 19 groups comprising 53 students participated in the competition. The entries reflected different creative approaches to presenting food and nutrition through photography.
The event was organised around this year’s National Nutrition Month theme, “Humari Anganwadi, Humari Zimmedari.”
Interdisciplinary Panel Evaluates Entries
The photographic entries were evaluated by Dr Urvashi Sinha, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, and Gaurav Aranya, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication.
The organisers said the participation of faculty members from different disciplines brought an interdisciplinary perspective to the evaluation of the entries.
The event was coordinated by Siddhant Parashar, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics.
The competition was guided by Dr Shubham Sinha, Head of the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, and Dr Shazia Husain, Head of the Department of Home Science. Faculty members from both departments were present at the event.
Winners Of The Competition
The first position was secured by Code 11, comprising Samridhi Versha, Prachi Kumari and Richa Raj.
Second position went to Code 10, comprising Fruty Kumari, Anushka Gupta and Ananya Awasthi.
The third position was jointly awarded to Code 09, comprising Adeeba Kulsum, Asiya Naaz and Tasneem Zahra, and Code 18, comprising Nazneen Sidra and Sanjana Ray.
The event highlighted the role of creative communication in nutrition education, giving students a platform to convey messages about food and healthy living through photography.
