Patna: Students of Patna Women’s College joined hands to promote water conservation, forming a human chain on the college campus on July 16, 2026.
The programme was organised by the ECO Task Force (ETF) in collaboration with the Department of Zoology, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, as part of the Season of Creation.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness among students and the wider community about the importance of conserving water and protecting the natural resource.
175 ECO Task Force Members Participate
A total of 175 ECO Task Force members participated in the human chain and highlighted the need for responsible and sustainable water use.
Through the campaign, students conveyed the message that water conservation is a shared responsibility and that every individual can contribute to protecting water resources.
The activity also drew attention to the need to prevent water wastage, protect water bodies and promote rainwater harvesting.
Students Promote Sustainable Water Use
The human chain encouraged people to adopt water-conscious practices in their daily lives and recognise the importance of conserving water for future generations.
The students emphasised that protecting water resources is essential not only to meet present needs but also to ensure their availability for generations to come.
The programme reflected the environmental focus of the Season of Creation, reinforcing the message that protecting natural resources requires collective participation.
Zoology Department Supports Initiative
Teachers from the Department of Zoology were present during the programme and encouraged students in their environmental conservation efforts.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Sumeet Ranjan, Head of the Department of Zoology, who stressed the importance of involving young people in environmental protection and promoting responsible use of natural resources.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from ECO Task Force members to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the college and the wider community.
The students’ campaign carried a simple message: “Save Water Today, Secure Life Tomorrow.”
