Patna: The Department of Microbiology, Semester 2, at Patna Women’s College, successfully hosted the “Trash to Tiny Life” model-making competition, on March 30, 2026, transforming waste materials into creative representations of microscopic wonders.

This unique event encouraged students to recycle everyday trash into intricate models of key
microorganisms, highlighting themes of sustainability, microbiology, and environmental awareness.
Over 40 participants showcased their ingenuity by crafting models of Escherichia coli (E. coli), Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Ideonella sakaiensis, Nipah virus, etc. using discarded plastics, bottles, and other recyclables.

The competition not only fostered creativity but also educated attendees on the vital roles these microbes play—from common gut bacteria and tuberculosis pathogens to plastic-degrading bacteria and emerging viruses—while promoting eco-friendly practices.
