Patna: The Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park in Patna, commonly known as Patna Zoo, has undergone a series of upgrades aimed at transforming it from a traditional zoological park into a vibrant, family-friendly destination. Combining natural beauty with modern amenities, the park now attracts over 2.3 million visitors annually.
Visitors entering the zoo are greeted by a flower-adorned entrance, melodious birdcalls, and lush greenery, creating an inviting atmosphere for families and tourists alike. Seasonal floral displays add colour and vibrancy, contributing to the park’s refreshed aesthetic.
Recent initiatives have focused on improving visitor comfort and convenience. A childcare unit has been introduced to provide mothers with a private space for breastfeeding, while sanitary napkin vending machines have been installed to make the park more accessible for women.
Entertainment facilities have also been enhanced. The water park has been renovated, featuring a new waterfall and play areas, while the children’s park offers modern equipment and boating activities, ensuring a memorable experience for families.
The zoo’s administration emphasises that their mission extends beyond animal conservation. “We aim to provide visitors with a better experience and a closer connection to nature,” said a spokesperson. Meticulous attention has been paid to cleanliness, floral decorations, and overall visitor comfort. A feedback system has also been introduced to encourage suggestions for further improvements.
With these upgrades, Patna Zoo hopes to continue its appeal as both a centre for wildlife conservation and a premier recreational destination for the city’s residents and tourists.
