Patna: A large-scale anti-encroachment operation was conducted across Patna on Tuesday following strict instructions from District Magistrate Dr. Thiyagarajan S.M. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy, the district administration cleared illegal structures and goods occupying footpaths and main roads.
A total fine of ₹37,400 was collected during the drive, while carts, televisions, cameras, flex boards, bricks, and other materials were seized.
The operation was carried out in multiple zones, including:
• New Capital Zone – Station Golambar to Chiraiyatad Bridge, CDA Building vicinity, Boring Road intersection
• Patliputra Zone – Rajapur Bridge, Sabzi Mandi, Dujra Bans Ghat, Mandiri
• Azimabad Zone – Zero Mile, Masaurhi Mor, Bairia Bus Stand
• Phulwarisharif Municipal Council – Khoja Imli, Pethiya Bazaar, Bhagat Singh Chowk
The District Magistrate instructed that habitual encroachers be identified and FIRs registered against them. He also directed that the concerned police station heads will be personally responsible for keeping their areas encroachment-free, with teams deployed on site during the campaign.
Key locations such as Patna Junction, Gandhi Maidan, Raja Bazaar, Hathua Market, Bairia, and Rajapur Bridge have been marked as priority zones that must remain fully free of illegal occupation.
He further stated that no encroachment would be tolerated on major city routes including Nehru Path, JP Ganga Path, Airport Road, Ashok Rajpath, and Digha–Ashiana Road. Temporary structures must be removed immediately, while action against permanent encroachments should be completed within the prescribed timeframe.
“Encroachments waste precious public time and severely affect traffic movement. Our main priority is to provide relief and smooth mobility for citizens,” the District Magistrate said.
