Vaishali: Bhojpuri film star Pawan Singh took to the stage at an election rally in Bidupur, Raghopur, on Sunday, campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a performance-heavy style that blended cinema with politics.
Singh was joined by Rakesh Roshan, an engineer who formally joined the BJP just a day earlier. Together, they rallied support for the BJP candidate Satish Kumar, seeking to challenge Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the two-time MLA from Raghopur and the chief ministerial candidate for the Grand Alliance.
Addressing the crowd at Ramdauli High School Sports Complex in Vaishali district, Singh spoke in Bhojpuri, urging voters to press the “lotus button” for Satish Kumar. “All of you press the lotus button and make Satish Bhaiya win so that the Modi-Nitish duo becomes a hit,” he said, in remarks delivered with a distinctly filmy flourish.
Singh’s speech repeatedly invoked regional pride and the role of the electorate in shaping Bihar’s future. “You have blessed Satish Bhaiya. The future of Bihar is in your hands. Each of your votes is precious and will shape the future of Bihar,” he added. He encouraged the crowd to raise their hands and chant slogans in support of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Satish Kumar.
The actor also performed on stage, singing a Bhojpuri campaign song, “NDA ke Vote Dihi Khoob Laalkaar,” while garlanding the candidate. He told the crowd that, after two decades of change in Bihar, he now felt proud to be called a Bihari, wherever he went – from Delhi and Mumbai to Hollywood and Tollywood.
Among those present at the rally were BJP leaders including Anjan Kumar Singh, Dr Prem Singh Kushwaha, Tinkaj Kumar Singh, Ritesh Kumar Singh, Haresh Kumar Singh, Raman Singh, and others.
