Patna: Bhojpuri film star Pawan Singh has reported receiving a threatening phone call, allegedly from members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, warning him not to appear alongside Salman Khan on the stage of the Bigg Boss 19 finale, scheduled to air today.
Singh said he was contacted on Saturday by an unknown caller who claimed affiliation with the Bishnoi gang and demanded a large sum of money. The caller allegedly warned that if Singh shared the stage with Khan, he would face consequences and would not be allowed to continue working in the film industry.
The actor’s team has since informed security authorities, prompting an investigation. Police have reportedly increased security around Singh’s public appearances and movements ahead of the show’s finale.
Despite the threat, Singh is expected to attend the event. Known as a leading figure in Bhojpuri cinema, Singh recently left reality television to pursue politics, campaigning extensively during the Bihar Assembly elections. He has also appeared in several recent TV programmes, including Laughter Chefs Season 3 and Rise and Fall.
The latest development comes against the backdrop of a long-running conflict between Salman Khan and the Bishnoi community, dating back to allegations that the actor and co-stars hunted a blackbuck in 1998 during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain. The species is considered sacred by the community.
Tensions resurfaced earlier this year after the death of politician Baba Siddiqui, a close associate of Khan. The Bollywood star reportedly received a threatening message demanding Rs 5 crore to avoid being killed “like Siddiqui”.
