New Delhi: South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) has been selected as one of 51 organisations shortlisted to take part in the National Conference on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in the Power Distribution Sector, held in New Delhi on December 6–7.
The two-day conference, hosted at Bharat Mandapam and organised by REC Limited under the Ministry of Power, received 195 applications from across the country, with SBPDCL securing a place among the top performers recognised for innovation and technology-led initiatives in electricity distribution.

The event brought together senior government representatives and industry leaders, including the Union Minister of Power, Manohar Lal; Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shripad Yesso Naik; and the secretary of the Ministry of Power, Pankaj Agarwal.
Centred around the theme “Harnessing AI and ML for Sustainable and Reliable Power Distribution,” the conference focused on enhancing operational efficiency, improving consumer service delivery and strengthening grid resilience through advanced digital technologies. Participants shared case studies, pilot project results and emerging strategies for AI integration in distribution networks.

SBPDCL said the recognition reflects its efforts to modernise electricity supply mechanisms and adopt data-driven solutions to reduce losses and improve reliability across South Bihar.
