Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation and Budko teams are on high alert as the rainy season continues in Bihar. Officials have made special arrangements to prevent waterlogging in the city. They have set a target to drain out rainwater within two hours after rainfall with the help of Quick Response Teams.
The Municipal Commissioner, who is also the Budko Managing Director, has ordered hourly monitoring of water levels at all sump houses. This is to ensure that the drainage system works smoothly and no area faces flooding due to heavy rain.
Monitoring is now being done at three levels. Firstly, sump houses are being watched through CCTV cameras connected to the control room and operated with the SCADA system. Secondly, workers with walkie-talkies have been deployed at every sump house to manage drainage operations quickly. Thirdly, control room teams are checking water levels every hour and sending reports to senior officials.
Officials said that as the water level of the Ganga has also risen during this rainy season, special care is being taken at all sump houses to avoid any emergency situation in low-lying areas.
