Patna: There is good news for people suffering from ear, nose, and throat problems in Patna. Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) has started a new 30-bed ENT indoor ward in the first phase of its new world-class hospital building. The ward will provide modern and comfortable treatment facilities for patients. On Tuesday, Hospital Superintendent Dr IS Thakur and Head of the Department of Dermatology, Dr Anupama Singh, formally inaugurated the ward. On the very first day, more than seven patients were admitted for treatment.
Dr Thakur said that earlier the ENT ward used to operate from the old building opposite the Superintendent’s office. It has now been shifted to the new, air-conditioned complex with advanced facilities. He added that patients suffering from different ENT diseases such as throat lumps, crooked noses, and perforated eardrums will be admitted and treated here. “This new ward will help us provide better and faster care to patients,” Dr Thakur said.
The hospital administration has also expanded other departments to improve services. A 270-bed medicine ward and a 40-bed dermatology ward have been opened recently. A new parking area for 200 vehicles and a new lecture hall for doctors from the Medicine, Gynecology, and Pediatrics departments are also ready. All the new wards are fully air-conditioned and equipped with modern systems. Each bed has an alarm button that can alert the nurses and doctors immediately if a patient’s condition gets worse. Dr Thakur said this system will be very helpful in saving lives and improving safety.
In a separate event, the Inner Wheel Club of Amrapali showed its social responsibility by donating 100 sheets to Mahavir Vatsalya Hospital. The donation was made on Tuesday, keeping in mind the cold weather. Former Club President Sudha Jha handed over the sheets to the hospital’s Director, Dr Rajiv Ranjan Prasad. He appreciated the club’s kind gesture and thanked all the members for their support. Club member Ratna Sinha said that the organization will soon donate blankets for newborn babies as well, to help them stay warm during winter.
