Patna: Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) has emerged as the top property-tax payer among government institutions in Patna, depositing Rs 28.50 lakh during the current financial year, according to the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC).

The civic body said government and non-government institutions are showing increased participation in the timely payment of property tax. Timely payment also allows eligible property owners to avail themselves of applicable rebates.

Top Government Institutions In Property Tax Payment

PMCH has topped the list of government institutions, followed by the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna Women’s College, Raj Bhavan and Chandragupt Institute of Management.

The top five government property-tax payers are:

– Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH): Rs 28.50 lakh
– IGIMS: Rs 24.87 lakh
– Patna Women’s College: Rs 14.10 lakh
– Raj Bhavan: Rs 11.76 lakh
– Chandragupt Institute of Management: Rs 10.90 lakh

According to the PMC, these institutions made their property-tax payments on time and received the applicable rebate. The civic body said timely tax payments contribute to strengthening civic infrastructure and public services in the city.

Jai Prabha Medanta Tops Non-Government Institutions

Among non-government institutions, Jai Prabha Medanta Hospital recorded the highest property-tax payment at Rs 49.62 lakh during the current financial year.

The other major non-government taxpayers listed by the PMC are:

– HMRI Hospital: Rs 18.20 lakh
– Bailey Square Mall: Rs 17.83 lakh
– Kurji Holy Family Hospital: Rs 16.52 lakh
– St Michael’s School: Rs 11.13 lakh

PMC Conducts Door-To-Door Property Tax Campaign

The PMC is also conducting a door-to-door outreach campaign to improve property-tax compliance across the city.

During the campaign, civic teams are surveying properties and taking necessary action for property-tax assessment, reassessment and recovery of outstanding dues from properties that have remained outside the tax net.

The campaign is aimed at identifying properties that have not yet been assessed and ensuring that their owners complete the required tax-assessment process.

Property Owners Asked To Complete Assessment

The PMC has advised property owners whose properties have not yet been assessed to approach their nearest circle office or the corporation headquarters at Maurya Lok at the earliest.

The civic body has warned that delaying property-tax assessment or payment can lead to additional penalties on outstanding dues.

For assistance related to property tax, residents can contact the PMC’s toll-free helpline at 155304.

The PMC’s online property-tax portal also provides facilities for new assessment, self-assessment, property searches, payment and printing of payment receipts.
