Patna: In a relentless pursuit of the culprits behind the audacious murder of notorious Buxar gangster Chandan Mishra inside Paras HMRI Hospital in Patna, police have extended their search operations to Muzaffarpur and Vaishali districts. The Special Task Force (STF) conducted raids on approximately half a dozen potential hideouts across both districts from late Thursday night into Friday morning, though the teams returned empty-handed.
The shocking incident, where Mishra was shot dead in a hospital ward, has caused widespread sensation, with the manner of the crime by five assailants suggesting a meticulously planned execution.
STF Follows Leads, No Arrests Yet
According to sources, after the murder, the STF received intelligence indicating that one of the five absconding shooters was hiding in Muzaffarpur after passing through Vaishali. Acting on this input, the STF launched raids on suspected hideouts linked to the identified individuals. However, despite the extensive efforts, no concrete clues were found, and no arrests were made during these operations.
Currently, the STF and the police from the concerned districts are intensively gathering information on the five shooters who fled the scene, along with a “liner” (an accomplice who provides support or information), and any individuals suspected of providing shelter to these criminals.
Recap of the Audacious Killing
Chandan Mishra, a notorious criminal from Buxar, was fatally shot at approximately 7:25 AM on Thursday morning inside Paras Hospital in Patna. The murder was carried out by five armed individuals who arrived on two bikes. Eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage suggest the assailants fled the scene while celebrating their act.
CCTV cameras installed within the hospital corridor captured images of the criminals, and a sixth individual, believed to be an accomplice, was seen on external CCTV footage. One of the identified suspects is Tausif alias Badshah of Phulwarisharif, who was prominently visible without a cap during the incident. A raid was also conducted in Phulwarisharif in search of him earlier.
Mishra had been admitted to the hospital on July 15 for piles treatment. He was initially scheduled for discharge on July 16 but requested to extend his stay until July 17. On Thursday morning, Mishra was in a private ward with two friends when five armed criminals stormed in and opened fire, leading to his instantaneous death.
The STF continues its intensive efforts to apprehend the entire gang involved in this high-profile murder.
