Patna: The Energy Department has warned power transmission contractors of strict action for delays and substandard work after conducting a comprehensive review of ongoing projects across the state. The assessment, carried out via video conferencing on Wednesday, focused on schemes being implemented by the Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL).
The meeting was chaired by Manoj Kumar Singh, the energy secretary and chairman-cum-managing director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited. Senior officials from regional and headquarters offices, along with representatives of executing agencies, presented progress reports and updates on project timelines.
Singh said companies that fail to complete work on schedule or do not meet quality benchmarks would face penalties. He directed all agencies to adhere strictly to approved technical standards and specifications, stressing that infrastructure upgrades in the power sector must meet reliability and safety requirements.
Rahul Kumar, managing director of both the North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and BSPTCL, echoed the warning, stating that no compromise on quality would be tolerated. He instructed officials to ensure that all projects are delivered within the stipulated timeframe and monitored closely through regular reviews.
To maintain momentum, the department also sought to address financial delays. Kumar directed that payments for completed work be processed within 10 days of bill submission, a move intended to prevent cash-flow issues from slowing construction. Officials were asked to carry out weekly monitoring to ensure faster execution and accountability across projects.
