Patna: Prashant Kishor maintained a lead from the opening round of counting in the Bankipur Assembly by-election and steadily strengthened his position as the process progressed. The Jan Suraaj leader stayed ahead throughout the count and eventually secured 63,203 votes, including 63,169 Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) votes and 34 postal ballot votes.
By the end of the 18th round, Kishor had polled 35,713 votes and held a lead of 10,436 votes over his nearest rival. His advantage continued to grow in the remaining rounds, culminating in victory.
