Patna: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, scheduled for December 16 at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena, has sparked excitement among cricket fans in Bihar. Sarthak Ranjan, the son of Purnia MP Pappu Yadav, has been included in the auction list, with a base price set at Rs 30 lakh.
An opening batsman who represents Delhi in the Ranji Trophy, Ranjan has caught attention with a series of impressive performances. In the Delhi Premier League 2025, he played nine matches for the North Delhi Strikers, amassing around 448 runs, including a century off just 58 balls. His aggressive and commanding innings have earned widespread praise, setting the stage for his potential debut in the IPL.
Ranjan, who made his debut for Delhi in 2016, is now poised to showcase his talent on one of cricket’s biggest platforms. Fans will be eager to see whether he can translate his domestic success into IPL stardom.
Other players from Bihar are also in the fray. The Bihar Cricket Association has put forward names including fast bowlers Saqib Hussain, Mohammad Izhar, Sabir Khan, and wicketkeeper-batsman Bipin Saurabh. Additionally, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already been retained by Rajasthan Royals.
