Patna: The Bihar district administration has asked former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Rabri Devi to vacate her residence at 10 Circular Road within 15 days and move to an alternative government-allotted bungalow at 39 Harding Road.
Officials said that if the directive is not followed within the stipulated time, further action will be taken as per rules.
Administration Directive
According to the Building Construction Department, the bungalow at 39 Harding Road was allotted to Rabri Devi in her capacity as Leader of the Opposition.
The department has earlier issued multiple requests asking her to shift residence, officials said, but compliance was not ensured. Following this, the district administration was requested to intervene.
On Friday, a team of magistrates and police personnel visited the residence after instructions from the District Magistrate (DM), and formally conveyed the 15-day deadline.
Long-Term Occupancy and Dispute
Rabri Devi has been residing at 10 Circular Road for around two decades along with family members. Officials maintained that the new allocation is part of administrative procedure linked to her current official position.
The administration reiterated that action would follow due process once the deadline expires.

Police Deployment and Statement
Officials said a police team, including the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), reached the premises to assess the situation following instructions from the administration.
Earlier, after returning to Patna from Ghaziabad, Rabri Devi had stated that she would not vacate the bungalow. She also publicly challenged the government’s move, referring to Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary in her remarks.
Following these statements, security arrangements were reviewed at the site, officials said.

The district administration has clarified that the process is being carried out in accordance with allotment rules for government residences and that all further steps will be taken legally after the 15-day period ends.
