Rajgir: The Rajgir Ropeway and Ghoda Katora services will remain closed for the next two days due to the Chhath Mahaparva celebrations and scheduled maintenance work. The closure may cause inconvenience to tourists visiting the popular hill town in Bihar.
Ropeway Manager Deepak Kumar informed that, as per administrative directions, the ropeway and paddle boat services at Ghoda Katora will remain closed throughout Monday, October 27, 2025, in observance of the Chhath Mahaparva. He said the decision was made to respect the sanctity of the festival and uphold local traditions.
In addition, the ropeway will also remain closed on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, for routine maintenance work. “This maintenance activity is conducted regularly to ensure the safety of tourists and the smooth technical functioning of the ropeway,” Deepak Kumar added.
Rajgir’s aerial ropeway is one of the region’s main tourist attractions, offering visitors a panoramic view from the summit of Ratnagiri Hill and access to the Vishwa Shanti Stupa. Similarly, the paddle boating service at Ghoda Katora Lake is a major draw for visitors.
Chhath Mahaparva, one of Bihar’s most significant folk festivals, is celebrated with deep devotion and enthusiasm across the state. The administrative decision aims to maintain the dignity and cultural sanctity of the festival.
The ropeway management has urged tourists to plan their trips accordingly and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused. All services are expected to resume from October 29, 2025.
