Nalanda: Rajgir, one of Bihar’s most important historical and religious cities, is set to witness a new attraction that combines tradition with modern technology. From March 1, a water laser light and sound show will begin at Pandu Pokhar, offering visitors a fresh way to experience the city’s rich past. The show, the first of its kind in Bihar, is being introduced by the state’s tourism department to make history more engaging and easier to understand for people of all ages.
Pandu Pokhar, surrounded by hills and closely linked to the ancient story of Rajgir, has been specially prepared for this project. Officials from the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation have said that the work is in its final stage and all arrangements are being carefully monitored. Once the show begins, tourists visiting Rajgir will have a reason to stay back in the evening, as the site will transform into a colourful and lively space filled with light, music and moving water.
The show will be held daily on the water surface of Pandu Pokhar. Powerful water jets will create a large screen made of mist, on which laser lights and images will be projected. Through simple narration and music, the audience will be taken back to the time when Rajgir was a major centre of learning, meditation and culture. The aim is to present history in a clear and entertaining way, without making it complicated or difficult to follow.
A special focus of the show will be on the lives and teachings of Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavira, both of whom spent important periods of their lives in Rajgir. Their stories will be shown on the water screen, highlighting the spiritual importance of the city. The combination of light, sound and flowing water is expected to create a peaceful yet impressive atmosphere for viewers.
Modern fountain technologies such as dancing fountains, rainbow jets, high jets and musical water effects are being used to enhance the visual experience. Tourism officials believe that this new attraction will help increase the number of visitors to Rajgir. In turn, local hotels, transport services and small businesses are expected to benefit. The water laser show is being seen as a major step towards strengthening Bihar’s tourism and presenting its heritage in a modern and attractive way.
