Patna: Bihar is witnessing severe disruption in train services as Indian Railways has decided to cancel several important trains passing through the state until February 28. Trains including the Kamakhya, Mahananda, and Barauni Express will not operate, while other services have been partially cancelled or will run on fewer days. This decision comes in response to the harsh cold wave and dense fog affecting Bihar and several other parts of the country, which have caused significant delays on many train routes.
Among the major trains affected, the Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Express will remain suspended until February 28. The Kamakhya-Anand Vihar Express has been cancelled until February 27, and both the Ambala-Barauni Harihar Express and Barauni-Ambala Harihar Express will not run until February 25 and February 27, respectively. Additionally, the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express is suspended until March 2, while the Anand Vihar-Kamakhya Express will not operate until February 28.
Many other trains will run on a reduced schedule. The Kamakhya-Anand Vihar North East Express will not run on Sundays and Wednesdays, while the Anand Vihar-Kamakhya North East Express will be cancelled on Tuesdays and Fridays. The Gwalior-Barauni Express will not operate on Mondays and Thursdays, and the Barauni-Gwalior Express will skip Tuesdays and Fridays. Selective day cancellations also affect trains like the Lalgarh-Dibrugarh Awadh Assam Express, Howrah-Kathgodam Express, and the Delhi-Alipurduar Sikkim Mahananda Express. These measures will continue until the end of February.
Passengers are already experiencing delays at major stations. On Sunday, the 12310 Tejas Rajdhani Express arrived at Patna Junction 1 hour 7 minutes late, and the 12394 Sampoorna Kranti Express was delayed by 42 minutes. Other trains, including the 12304 Poorva Express, 22362 Amrit Bharat Express, and 20802 Magadh Express, arrived several hours late due to dense fog. Railway officials have assured passengers that train services will gradually return to normal once weather conditions improve and have advised everyone to check the status of their trains before travelling.
