Patna: Mahashivratri in 2026 is being described as a very rare and powerful occasion, coming after almost 300 years with such a special alignment of stars and planets. According to astrologer Pandit Naval Kishore Jha of Korai, this year 12 rare and auspicious yogas will be formed together on the same day. Mahashivratri will be celebrated on 15 February, which is believed to be the holy day of the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Because of this rare coincidence, devotees believe the day will bring peace, success and spiritual strength.
Pandit Jha said that the yogas forming on this day include Preeti, Ayushmaan, Saubhagya, Shobhan, Sarvarthasiddha, Sadhy, Shiva, Shukla, Chandramangal, Trigrahi, Raj and Dhruva. These yogas are considered very powerful in astrology and are believed to bring good results in life. Among all zodiac signs, Aries, Gemini and Leo are expected to benefit the most. Aries people may see progress in money and promotions, Gemini may grow in business and career, and Leos may gain through property and financial success.
The timing of Mahashivratri is also very important this year. The Chaturdashi Tithi of Phalguna Krishna Paksha begins at 4:23 pm on 15 February and ends at 5:09 pm on 16 February. Since the sacred night falls on the first day, the festival will be observed on 15 February. Astrologers say that worship done throughout the day and night on this date will be especially fruitful because the yogas remain active for long hours.
Along with prayers, grand celebrations are also being planned. A two-day fair will be organised at Baba Harigiri Dham in Mithila. A holy Shiva procession will start from Ram Janaki Thakurbari in Garhpura and reach Harigiri Dham with music, devotion and large crowds. The entire area will echo with chants of “Bol Bam” and “Har Har Mahadev” as thousands of devotees gather to seek blessings.
According to religious texts, performing Abhishekam in all four Prahars of the night is very auspicious. Bathing the Shiva lingam with milk, curd, ghee and honey while chanting mantras is believed to remove problems and bring happiness, peace and salvation. For many, this rare Mahashivratri is not just a festival, but a powerful spiritual moment filled with faith and hope.
