Rs 1,200 Crore Expansion Plan
Officials said the redevelopment project is estimated to cost around Rs 1,200 crore.
As part of the expansion, the airport runway will be extended to 2,360 metres, enabling operations of larger commercial aircraft as well as fighter jets.
Land Acquisition Under Way
The state government has also initiated the process of acquiring 139 acres of land required for the project. Officials said Rs 208 crore has been sanctioned for land acquisition.
Authorities believe the upgraded airport could provide a boost to trade, tourism and regional business activity while improving access to northern Bihar’s border districts.
The government said the redevelopment aligns with broader efforts to expand Bihar’s transport infrastructure and improve regional connectivity under ongoing state and central development initiatives.
