Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) celebrated its 30th foundation day on Wednesday with a programme at the party’s state headquarters in Patna, where founder Lalu Prasad called on workers to strengthen the organisation ahead of upcoming elections.
The event marked the completion of the party’s 29-year journey and the beginning of its 30th year, drawing senior leaders, office-bearers and party workers from across Bihar.
Lalu Yadav Addresses Party Workers
The celebrations began with Lalu hoisting the party flag before addressing party members.
Reflecting on the RJD’s political journey, he said the party had consistently represented the interests of the poor, backward classes, farmers and other marginalised sections of society.
Lalu urged party workers to remain united and continue expanding the organisation at the grassroots level.
He said the RJD had overcome numerous challenges over the years and would continue to adhere to its ideological principles.
Focus On Organisational Strength
Senior party leaders used the occasion to discuss strategies for strengthening the organisation down to the booth level.
With future elections approaching, leaders appealed to workers to remain active in villages and panchayats and increase public outreach.
The leadership said a strong grassroots organisation would be central to the party’s electoral preparations.
Several speakers also reflected on the party’s three-decade political journey, describing the RJD as a key advocate of social justice in Bihar’s political landscape.
Celebrations At Party Headquarters
Party workers began gathering at the Patna headquarters early in the day. The premises were decorated with party flags, banners and posters, while workers exchanged greetings, cut cakes and distributed sweets to mark the anniversary.
Political observers view the foundation day celebrations as part of the RJD’s preparations for the forthcoming electoral contests, with the party using the occasion to mobilise its cadre and reinforce its organisational structure.
Concluding his address, Lalu reiterated that the party would continue to raise issues concerning poor, farmers, labourers and backward communities, urging workers to remain united and strengthen the organisation in the months ahead.
