Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has criticised the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) victory in the recent Bihar assembly elections, alleging that the ruling coalition relied on financial incentives to sway voters. The controversy centres on the transfer of Rs 10,000 to women’s bank accounts under the Chief Minister’s Women’s Employment Scheme, just days before polling.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), the RJD suggested that the NDA had devised “two formulas” for winning elections: distributing money during polling, and reclaiming it afterwards. The party accused the Election Commission, led by the Chief Election Commissioner, of facilitating the practice. “Run a terrible government for five or twenty years, but during the election, distribute the public’s money among the public itself and temporarily patch up the dilapidated system,” the RJD wrote.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (@RJDforIndia) December 17, 2025
The party also alleged that in some cases, the funds were mistakenly transferred to men’s accounts instead of women’s, prompting officials to request repayment. The RJD criticised the move, pointing to Bihar’s high levels of hunger, unemployment, and migration, and argued that recipients were unlikely to return the money.
“EVM manipulation, vote buying, vote theft, and governments formed through rigged machinery – how long can this be hidden? The truth will come out one day,” the party added in a separate post.
