Bettiah/Patna: Police in West Champaran have launched an investigation after BJP MP Dr Sanjay Jaiswal reported receiving ransom calls demanding Rs 10 crore and threatening to kill his only son, Dr Shivam Jaiswal, if the amount was not paid.
According to the complaint filed by the MP, he received two phone calls from different mobile numbers between 12:40 pm and 12:44 pm on October 23. The callers allegedly demanded Rs 10 crore and issued death threats against his son.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at the city police station, and police teams have begun tracing the mobile numbers linked to the threats.
Confirming the development, Sadar SDPO Vivek Deep said, “An FIR has been filed based on the MP’s complaint. The investigation is underway, and raids are being conducted to locate and arrest those responsible. The case will be solved soon.”
Police sources said preliminary technical analysis has already helped trace the location of the mobile phone users, and teams have been dispatched to multiple sites.
The MP, who represents West Champaran constituency and is a senior leader in Bihar politics, stated that the threats were specific and directly targeted his son, a practising doctor.
The incident has triggered security concerns and heightened vigilance in the area, with police intensifying surveillance around the MP’s residence and family.
Officials said all leads, including the possibility of extortion or political intimidation, are being explored.
