Patna: In response to traffic disruption on the Vikramshila Setu, East Central Railway has announced a special train service to improve connectivity across the Ganges in the Bhagalpur region.
The railway will operate one pair of daily special trains — 05573/05574 Saraigarh–Deoghar–Saraigarh — via the Munger rail bridge route between May 7 and May 31, 2026.
Route And Connectivity
The special train will run through key stations including Supaul, Saharsa, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Mansi, Khagaria, Sabdalpur, Munger, Sultanganj, Bhagalpur and Banka, providing an alternative route for passengers affected by the bridge disruption.
Timings Of Saraigarh–Deoghar Service
Train number 05573 will depart from Saraigarh at 03:05 and arrive in Deoghar at 11:20. En route, it will stop at Supaul (03:38), Saharsa (04:30), Simri Bakhtiyarpur (05:00), Mansi (05:50), Khagaria (06:00), Sabdalpur (06:18), Munger (06:40), Sultanganj (07:48) and Bhagalpur (08:30).
Return Journey Schedule
On the return leg, train number 05574 will depart Deoghar at 11:35 and reach Saraigarh at 22:15. It will halt at Bhagalpur (14:20), Sultanganj (14:55), Munger (16:25), Sabdalpur (17:25), Khagaria (17:50), Mansi (18:16), Simri Bakhtiyarpur (18:53), Saharsa (20:40) and Supaul (21:26).
Temporary Relief Measure
Railway officials said the special service has been introduced as a temporary measure to ensure smoother movement of passengers between north and south Bihar while normal connectivity remains affected.
The move is expected to ease travel difficulties for residents and commuters dependent on the disrupted route.
