Patna: Bihar cannot remain on the margins if India is to achieve its ambition of becoming a developed nation by 2047, Bharatiya Janata Party national secretary and SIS Limited group managing director Rituraj Sinha told students in Patna on Wednesday.
Speaking at Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) during a Behtar Bihar Samwaad session, Rituraj said the state’s youth hold the key to this transformation. “A self-reliant Bihar is essential for a developed India — and the key to this lies in the hands of our young generation,” he said.
Rituraj called on young Biharis to shed pessimism about the state and take pride in its potential, drawing a parallel with the 1975 JP Movement when student voices from Bihar played a pivotal role in challenging authoritarianism and corruption.
On employment, he warned against an over-reliance on government jobs, urging a cultural shift towards entrepreneurship and self-employment. “In Gujarat, young people start businesses at 18, while in Bihar many begin preparing for competitive exams at that age. If Bihar is to forge ahead, this mindset must change,” he said.
Students at the event put forward proposals ranging from the use of technology in agriculture and better credit access for entrepreneurs to boosting tourism and reforming minimum wage laws. Rituraj praised their ideas, describing them as the foundation of a stronger Bihar.
The session concluded with CIMP director Rana Singh presenting Rituraj with a memento, followed by a vote of thanks from chief administrative officer Kumod Kumar.
