Sitamarhi: A Bandhan Bank employee was shot and injured in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district on Monday, the latest in a series of violent incidents that have unsettled the area.
The shooting took place in Panchtaki Ram village under Bairgania police station, where masked assailants opened fire on Shravan Kumar, a bank worker. Locals rushed him to the nearby Public Health Centre, where doctors referred him to Sitamarhi Sadar Hospital after first aid.
Kumar, speaking from hospital, said he could not identify the attackers, who had tied black cloths over their faces. “Although I wasn’t running away, they thought I was and fired indiscriminately,” he said.
Police said no evidence of robbery had been found. “The matter is being investigated. The criminals will be apprehended soon,” said Subodh Kumar Singh, DSP Sadar, adding that a search operation was underway.
The attack is the latest in a spate of shootings in Sitamarhi, where multiple murders and gun violence cases have been reported in recent weeks, raising concerns about law and order.
