Patna/Siwan: The discovery of two bodies stuffed into sacks near a village in Bihar’s Siwan district has sparked shock and concern, with police confirming that both men were murdered by having their throats slit.
The bodies were found on Saturday afternoon in the GB Nagar police station area, near Pipra village, beneath the Dadwa bridge in a waterlogged chawar (low-lying field). According to police, the victims were around 30 years old. Their identities had not been established by Saturday evening. Local residents alerted authorities after spotting two sacks in the water while working in nearby fields.
The area where the bodies were found is sparsely populated and sees little movement, according to local residents. News of the discovery spread quickly in nearby villages, drawing crowds to the site as people attempted to identify the victims.
Police teams, led by the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Ajay Kumar Singh, reached the spot soon after receiving the information. Officers recovered the bodies and sent them to Siwan Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway, police said.
Station house officer Mihir Kumar and sub-inspector Ashutosh Ranjan were among the officers who carried out preliminary procedures at the scene before the bodies were transported for autopsy.
Police said they were examining possible motives and leads, including missing persons reports, and assured that efforts were being made to identify the victims and trace those responsible.
