Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Sudhakar Singh has written to Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar urging the state government to immediately sever all official ties with the Gates Foundation, citing concerns linked to the Epstein scandal in the United States.
In a formal letter, Singh called on the government to take a “clear stand” and review its associations with Bill Gates and the philanthropic organisation founded by him. He referred to reports that Gates’ name had surfaced in connection with the wider controversy surrounding financier Jeffrey Epstein, arguing that the issue had attracted serious international scrutiny.
“Questions are being raised globally about those involved,” Singh wrote, adding that the Bihar government should exercise caution in light of the allegations.

The RJD MP said it was the government’s responsibility to maintain transparency in social and administrative affairs. He argued that when serious allegations are levelled against an individual or organisation, it becomes necessary to reassess official relationships. He described the matter as one of “morality”.
The letter noted that the Gates Foundation has been collaborating with the Bihar government on various policy programmes and schemes. Singh demanded that these partnerships be comprehensively reviewed and, if required, terminated.
The move has triggered political ripples in the state, with observers anticipating a fresh round of exchanges between the ruling JD(U)-BJP alliance and the opposition RJD. The state government has not yet publicly responded to the letter.
