Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Dr. Sunil Kumar Singh has filed his nomination papers for the Bihar Legislative Council election, disclosing assets worth crores of rupees, outstanding liabilities, licensed firearms, and details of pending legal cases in the affidavit submitted with his nomination.
The affidavit shows that Dr. Singh and his wife, Vandana Singh, jointly own substantial movable and immovable assets. The disclosure also indicates that a significant portion of the family’s wealth is registered in his wife’s name.
Movable Assets Cross Rs 15 Crore
According to the affidavit, Dr. Singh possesses movable assets valued at approximately Rs 6.46 crore. His wife has movable assets worth around Rs 8.95 crore.
In addition, assets worth more than Rs 32 lakh are held jointly by the family.
Wife Holds Majority of Real Estate
The affidavit states that Dr. Singh owns land and residential properties valued at around Rs 4.41 crore.
His wife, however, holds immovable assets worth more than Rs 34.10 crore. Properties valued at approximately Rs 3.75 crore are also registered jointly in the family’s name.
Vehicles, Jewellery and Luxury Watches
Dr. Singh has declared ownership of two cars, around 300 grams of gold, and several expensive watches.
Vandana Singh owns two cars, nearly 2.5 kilograms of gold, and around 35 kilograms of silver. The declared value of her gold holdings is estimated at about Rs 4.5 crore.
Licensed Firearms Listed in Affidavit
The nomination affidavit also includes details of licensed weapons owned by the family.
Dr. Singh has declared ownership of a gun and a revolver, while a separate revolver is registered in his wife’s name.
Liabilities Exceed Rs 73 Lakh
The affidavit shows that Dr. Singh has liabilities exceeding Rs 51 lakh.
His wife has an outstanding vehicle loan of approximately Rs 22 lakh, taking the family’s declared liabilities to more than Rs 73 lakh.
Eight Criminal Cases Pending
Dr. Singh has disclosed eight pending cases against him.
According to the affidavit, the cases relate to allegations including violations of the Model Code of Conduct, participation in protests, and other matters. The affidavit states that he has not been convicted in any of the cases so far.
Educational Background
A resident of Saran district, 59-year-old Dr. Sunil Kumar Singh holds a postgraduate degree in Chemistry and has also earned a PhD.
His educational qualifications have been detailed in the nomination affidavit submitted before the Bihar Legislative Council election.
