Patna: The Patna district administration has announced a series of measures to ensure the smooth and malpractice-free conduct of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, scheduled to be held on June 21.
The decisions were taken during a high-level review meeting chaired by District Magistrate Dr Thiyagarajan SM and Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma at the Patna Collectorate on Wednesday.
Over 46,000 Candidates to Appear
According to the district administration, 95 examination centres have been established across Patna district for the re-examination. A total of 46,029 candidates are expected to appear for the test.
Officials said the examination will also be conducted in other districts across Bihar. The District Magistrate directed all departments to ensure strict compliance with examination protocols and warned that any negligence would be dealt with firmly.
He instructed officials to immediately register an FIR against any individual found engaging in malpractice or violating examination rules.
Coaching Institutes to Remain Closed
To prevent any possibility of unfair practices, all coaching institutes in Patna district will remain closed on the day of the examination.
The administration said coaching centres would also remain under surveillance. Authorities have directed officials to take preventive action against anti-social elements and maintain heightened vigilance throughout the examination period.
Social Media Monitoring to Continue Round the Clock
The district administration has ordered continuous monitoring of social media platforms to curb the spread of rumours and misleading information related to the examination.
Officials said strict legal action would be taken against anyone found circulating false information that could disrupt the examination process.
Free Bus Travel for NEET Candidates
In line with state government instructions, candidates appearing for the NEET UG re-examination will be allowed to travel free of cost on buses operated by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC).
The District Transport Officer has been tasked with overseeing the implementation of the facility.
Facilities at Examination Centres
The administration has directed officials to ensure adequate arrangements at all examination centres, including clean drinking water, medical assistance and designated waiting areas.
Given the prevailing heat conditions, shaded areas will also be set up within 100 metres of examination centres to provide relief to parents and guardians accompanying candidates.
Officials Directed to Maintain Field Presence
The District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police have instructed all Sub-Divisional Officers and Sub-Divisional Police Officers to remain on active field duty throughout the examination day.
Officials have been directed to respond immediately to any reports of disturbances and take prompt action to maintain order.
Emphasis on NTA Guidelines
During the meeting, officials from various departments were briefed on the guidelines issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The District Magistrate stressed the need for close inter-departmental coordination and said preparations for the examination are being reviewed regularly to ensure that all arrangements are in place ahead of June 21.
