Patna: Police in Bihar have arrested three young men accused of gang-raping a 15-year-old girl in Dhanarua, a village near Patna, within 12 hours of the incident being reported.
The teenager, who had been visiting her aunt’s home, was allegedly abducted late Thursday night while she stepped out to relieve herself. According to her statement, she was forcibly taken to a nearby field and raped by three local youths, all known to each other. The accused fled the scene, leaving the girl traumatised and injured.
She returned to her aunt’s house and disclosed the assault, prompting her family to contact the police. Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma confirmed that swift action was taken, leading to the arrest of all three suspects. “The police responded immediately and all accused are now in custody. Interrogation is underway,” Sharma said.
The survivor has been sent for medical examination and is expected to record her statement in court. Authorities have assured that legal proceedings will be expedited.
