Patna: Tej Pratap Yadav escalated internal tensions within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Thursday as he publicly challenged his younger brother Tejashwi Prasad Yadav during a visit to Mahua in Bihar’s Vaishali district.
Addressing a public gathering, Tej Pratap questioned Tejashwi’s claim of being the political Arjun of the party and said, “If you say you are Arjun, play the flute and prove it. Then we will know who is Arjun and who is Krishna.”
In a sharp attack on Mahua’s current MLA Mukesh Roshan, also from RJD, Tej Pratap called him an “impersonator” and told the crowd, “If such a person comes to you, hand him a rattle.”
Tej Pratap further accused Roshan of crying whenever he visits the constituency. He promised the people that if elected again, he would build a dedicated building for the vegetable market in Parasauniya, citing that poor vendors are currently forced to sell produce on the roadside.
He appealed to voters by invoking the legacy of his father, Lalu Prasad. “If you vote for me, you vote for Lalu ji. His blood runs in my veins, and social justice is our mission,” he said.
Reiterating his commitment to development, he said that Mahua had progressed with the establishment of a medical college during his tenure, adding that land prices had also increased as a result. He assured that if elected, he would work towards providing free electricity.
Tej Pratap arrived in Mahua from Patna in a convoy of about 50 vehicles. He first offered prayers at a local temple before addressing the crowd. He concluded his speech with a promise to frequently visit the area and represent its needs.
