Patna: Tej Pratap Yadav is reportedly preparing to extend his influence beyond the state. The Jan Shakti Janata Dal (JJD) is expected to make significant announcements regarding its political strategy at a national executive meeting on February 1.
Speaking on Republic Day, JJD state president Jai Singh Rathore confirmed that Tej Pratap Yadav was unable to attend the event but conveyed a message outlining the party’s ambitions in West Bengal. Rathore emphasised that the JJD intends to contest elections in Bengal, particularly targeting constituencies with a significant Bihari population, where the party anticipates “natural public support.”
Known for his distinct political style in Bihar, Tej Pratap Yadav’s potential entry into West Bengal marks a notable attempt to broaden his party’s national footprint. Rathore stressed that the party’s measured approach in Bihar should not be mistaken for passivity, asserting that JJD aims to engage in “positive politics” rather than indulging in accusations or confrontations.
Looking ahead, Rathore indicated that the JJD will contest local body by-elections and teachers’ elections with full vigour, signalling an intent to consolidate its influence both within Bihar and beyond.
Should Tej Pratap Yadav formally announce his candidature in Bengal, it would signify a decisive step in transforming the JJD from a regional force into a party with national ambitions. The February 1 meeting is now poised to be more than an organisational gathering, potentially shaping the future trajectory of the party.
