Patna: Amid a growing rift between Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya and strategist Sanjay Yadav, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Friday issued his first public statement defending his sister and attacking the BJP for dragging personal matters into politics.
“Rohini Didi is our elder sister; she raised us. The sacrifices she has made are rare in today’s times. She gave her kidney to my father,” Tejashwi said, recalling that Lalu Prasad later fielded her as a candidate from Saran when local supporters pressed her to join politics. “Her ambition was never to get a ticket or help anyone else get one,” he added.
Tejashwi also took aim at Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, recalling his earlier comment that “Lalu Yadav is giving tickets and taking kidneys,” which he described as an insult to the relationship between father and daughter. “Do these people respect mothers and sisters?” he asked.
The BJP, meanwhile, escalated its offensive on social media, posting, “Strategist Sanjay Yadav’s new strategy – defame Lalu Prasad’s daughter,” along with two images.

As the state moves closer to assembly elections, Tejashwi faces the twin challenges of consolidating support to form a government in Bihar and managing tensions within his own family. Analysts warn that publicised divisions could raise voter concerns over cohesion within the RJD’s leadership.
