Patna: As the Bihar Assembly elections reach their final day of campaigning, the state has witnessed an unprecedented flurry of political rallies, with leaders from all major parties vying to win voter support. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has devoted more time to the 2025 elections than he did in 2020, highlighting the stakes for the ruling party.
In the 2020 elections, PM Modi visited Bihar four times and addressed 12 rallies. This year, he has visited the state seven times, holding 14 rallies, including stops in Sitamarhi and Bettiah on the final day. Other cities where the Prime Minister campaigned include Begusarai, Muzaffarpur, Chhapra, Saharsa, Katihar, Arrah, Nawada, Bhagalpur, Araria, Aurangabad, and Bhabua.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has held 67 rallies so far, supplemented by roadshows, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched his campaign on October 17 from Taraiyan in Chhapra and has addressed 33 rallies since. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held 21 rallies, and BJP president JP Nadda conducted 15.
Among opposition leaders, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has been the most active, holding 155 rallies, followed by LJP (R) chief Chirag Paswan with 85. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi addressed 14 and 13 rallies respectively, while senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge conducted four.
Sunday marks the final day of campaigning, with top leaders from all parties scheduled to address rallies. While the impact of these intensive campaigns will only be clear once the results are declared on November 14, the scale of political mobilisation underscores the high stakes in Bihar this election season.
