Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has promised that if his party returns to power, the honorarium for 102 ambulance personnel will be raised from Rs 320 to Rs 540, with future increases linked to inflation. He also pledged improved facilities for doctors, paramedical staff, and physiotherapists to strengthen Bihar’s healthcare system.
Speaking at the Doctors’ Dialogue organised by the RJD Medical Cell at Bapu Auditorium,Tejashwi recalled his party’s earlier efforts to create a public health cadre during its 17-month tenure in government. He claimed the initiative aimed to provide 1,75,000 jobs to lab technicians, ANMs, GNMs, X-ray technicians, and other medical staff, but was blocked by the Chief Minister.
Tejashwi highlighted schemes such as Mission 60 and Mission Buniyad, which he said improved hospital infrastructure, expanded testing facilities, and held absentee government doctors accountable. He accused the current “double engine government” of lacking vision, copying his ideas, and failing to provide adequate healthcare.
Tejashwi further criticised former health minister Mangal Pandey, alleging negligence during critical health crises, and accused the government of collapsing the medical system across the state. He emphasised that his vision was to ensure both respect for doctors and dignified treatment for patients.
At the event, attended by senior RJD leaders, MPs, MLAs, and prominent doctors, participants pledged support for Tejashwi’s leadership and promised to spread his message across Bihar’s villages.
