Nalanda: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav held a series of powerful rallies across Bihar, promising development, jobs, and a new vision for the state. Speaking in Mahua, Mokama, and Nalanda, the Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial face criticised his rivals and promised to bring change if voted to power. Supporters turned up in large numbers to listen to his speeches, and in Mokama, his fans even crowned him with a silver crown, showing their strong support and affection.
In Mahua, Tejashwi took a clear stand on the importance of party unity. Without naming his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav, he said, “Whoever comes or goes, no one is bigger than the party. The party is the parent. If there is a party, everything is there; if there is no party, nothing is there.” He also made several promises to the people, including giving a government job to one member of every family that does not have any, providing 200 units of free electricity, and improving hospitals, schools, and roads. He said, “We will make sure you do not have to leave Bihar for better opportunities.”
In Mokama, Tejashwi spoke after the recent murder of Dularchand Yadav and the arrest of local leader Anant Singh. Addressing the crowd in support of RJD candidate Veena Devi, he said, “Work hard to make Veena Devi win with a huge majority. The NDA got 20 years, and Tejashwi has not even got 20 months. What they could not do in 20 years, we will do in 20 months.” He said his main fight was against poverty, unemployment, migration, and crime. “Tejashwi does what he says,” he told the cheering crowd.
Later in Nalanda, Tejashwi took a dig at both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. “Bribery is happening in every project, whether it is the Har Ghar Nal Yojana or the ration scheme. People are tired of corruption,” he said. Tejashwi promised to deposit Rs 2,500 per month into women’s bank accounts if his party formed the government. He added that his government would ensure that no Bihari would need to go to another state for education, jobs, or medical treatment. Mocking Modi, he said, “Modi will set up factories in Gujarat, but we want sales in Bihar.”
However, in Munger, where Tejashwi addressed another rally, the excitement of his supporters led to chaos. After the rally, many people broke through the security barriers to reach Tejashwi’s helicopter to take selfies and shake hands with him. In the rush, two policemen were injured before order was restored. Despite the disturbance, Tejashwi’s back-to-back rallies showed his growing popularity, with huge crowds gathering everywhere he went, listening to his message of change and hope for a new Bihar.
