Patna: Leader of the Opposition and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said on Saturday that all promises made in the Grand Alliance’s manifesto would be fulfilled as soon as the coalition forms the government in Bihar. He was addressing a large election rally at the Chakai High School grounds, where he promised jobs, financial assistance for women, and better education and healthcare for all. “If our government is formed, one member of every family will get a job, women will receive monthly financial help under the Mother-Sister Scheme, and we will make arrangements for education, medicine, and income for everyone,” Yadav told the cheering crowd.
Tejashwi Yadav said that Bihar needs to be rebuilt with the support of the people. He claimed that the state has suffered from “20 years of misgovernance” and described the current system as “jungle raj”. He alleged that murders, kidnappings, and robberies have become part of daily life, while the government continues to blame others for its failures. Before his address, Khortha singer Ashish Yadav entertained the crowd with popular songs. For security, a large number of police and CRPF personnel were deployed under the supervision of Chakai Police Station Officer Rakesh Kumar.
The RJD leader also held rallies in several areas, including Chhapa Teliyadih Ground in Jhajja block, Shri Krishna Singh Stadium in Jamui, and Karmatand Ground in the Naxal-affected Harni Panchayat of Khaira block. He said that change was necessary for Bihar and accused the current government of failing to solve major problems like unemployment, inflation, and migration. “If the RJD forms the government, every family will have one government job,” he said, urging voters to give a chance to “new leadership with new ideas.” He added that if people wanted to remove dishonest leaders, they must make the RJD stronger.
Meanwhile, the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections is turning into a close contest between the NDA and the Grand Alliance. Both alliances have experimented with new candidates in four important constituencies — Jehanabad, Ghosi, Kurtha, and Arwal. In Jehanabad, the RJD has replaced sitting MLA Suday Yadav with former JDU MLA Rahul Sharma, while the NDA has fielded Chandrashekhar Chandravanshi, a former MP. In Kurtha, RJD has given a ticket to Suday Yadav, while JDU has fielded Pappu Kumar Verma. In Ghosi, JDU has nominated Rituraj, son of former MP Arun Kumar, while CPI(ML)’s Rambali Singh Yadav will contest again for the Grand Alliance. In Arwal, the BJP has replaced its 2020 candidate with Manoj Sharma, while CPI(ML) has again nominated Mahanand Singh.
As the election campaign heats up, both the NDA and the Grand Alliance are trying to connect with voters through promises of change and better governance. For Tejashwi Yadav, the message remains clear — Bihar, he says, must move beyond corruption and unemployment to become a state of opportunity, progress, and dignity.
