Patna: The Grand Alliance on Tuesday unveiled its election manifesto, branded as the “Tejashwi Pledge Letter”, with sweeping promises aimed at reshaping Bihar’s welfare and employment landscape. The release took place in the presence of Mahagathbandhan leaders, with Opposition leader and CM candidate Tejashwi Prasad Yadav leading the announcement.
The manifesto’s headline promise guarantees a government job for one member of every family, underscoring the alliance’s focus on tackling unemployment. Another major commitment is to raise the state’s reservation limit, a move that is expected to resonate strongly among backward and marginalised communities.
Women’s empowerment also figures prominently in the document. Under the Mai-Behin Maan Yojana, the Grand Alliance has pledged a monthly allowance of Rs. 2,500 for women and Rs. 2,000 for Jeevika Didis, marking one of the most expansive welfare schemes in the manifesto.
Political circles are abuzz as the release comes just days before the first phase of polling. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is also expected to participate in related campaign events. The timing and tone of the manifesto indicate an aggressive attempt to position the Mahagathbandhan as a pro-welfare alternative to the NDA.
Speaking at a rally in Saran, Tejashwi Yadav accused the ruling NDA government of “completely failing on law and order” and claimed that “the government doesn’t care about the people’s safety or prosperity.”
