Under Tejashwi’s Leadership, Mahagathbandhan to Change Symbols and Faces on 15,000+ Margin Losses

Patna: The Mahagathbandhan alliance in Bihar has moved closer to finalising its seat-sharing formula for the 2025 state assembly elections, with a strategic focus on constituencies that witnessed heavy defeats in the last polls. According to sources within the alliance, seats where candidates lost by a margin of over 15,000 votes will see changes in party symbols and nominees, indicating a major revamp in the coalition’s electoral strategy.
The decision was discussed as part of a wider review led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who has urged all alliance partners to submit detailed data on their organisational strength and past performances. The review is aimed at ensuring that the most winnable candidates contest from the most favourable constituencies under a mutually agreed distribution plan.
Alliance insiders say the seat allocation will also account for ground-level feedback and evolving caste and community equations in key regions. The move to shift symbols and change candidates is being viewed as an attempt to avoid repeating past mistakes and to optimise the coalition’s chances in a potentially high-stakes electoral contest against the ruling NDA.
The formal seat-sharing announcement is expected in the coming weeks, after further consultations with Left parties and the Congress, who are key members of the opposition bloc in the state.
