Vaishali/Patna: A wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head was killed in a police encounter in Bihar’s Vaishali district on Thursday.
Police said Arvind Sahni, accused in over two dozen serious cases including murder, robbery and organised crime, was gunned down near Chintamanipur School in the Vaishali police station area after a joint operation by Bihar Police and the Special Task Force (STF).
Sahni, who had been on the run for an extended period, was also the alleged mastermind of the high-profile gold robbery in Chhattisgarh. He was wanted by police in several districts, and the Muzaffarpur police had announced a cash reward for his capture.
Acting on intelligence about his movements, police laid siege to the area. According to officials, Sahni and his associates opened fire on the approaching team, prompting police to retaliate. Sahni was killed at the scene.
