Patna: Bhojpuri film star Khesari Lal Yadav met Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav at his Patna residence on Thursday, prompting speculation over whether he might contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
The actor, however, dismissed any such plans, describing the meeting as a friendly visit. “Just like that, I came to take the blessings of brother (Tejashwi Yadav). Oh no, I just came to express love and to take love,” he told reporters. “We are fine in films, making waves as we are. We just want whatever is best for Bihar to happen. The public will decide who is doing better for the state.”
When asked if he considered Tejashwi Yadav a good leader, Khesari responded: “Absolutely, he is, and he should come to power in Bihar. People will understand this more. I go where I get respect. He was just asking about my family, and I asked about his. I had also come to take blessings from Chacha (Lalu Yadav).”
On whether he might enter politics in the future, Khesari remained non-committal. “Today I am an artist, a hero. What will happen tomorrow, I don’t know,” he said, adding that while some have encouraged him to contest, “I don’t need to do anything — Tejashwi is managing Bihar well.”
Amid an ongoing political uproar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s electoral rolls, the actor said: “What is wrong should be opposed. What is right should be supported. What is wrong should also be called wrong.”
